May 5 Update

The Great Outdoor Track students traveled to Boundary County to learn about, and try their hand at, fly fishing. First, there was a presentation by Bill Love and two Idaho Fish & Game officers about some of the laws regulating fishing in Idaho and how to identify different trout species in our area.

Our Track was divided into a high school group and a junior high group. The high school kids went fishing first and then did a fly tying session and identification of the types of fly's and bugs trout eat in this area. The junior high group did the tying section first and then went fishing.

Trout Unlimited had a group of volunteers that taught the kids the proper techniques of fly fishing. Then they got to give their new skills a try. Several rainbow trout were caught.

The weather held on and everyone had a great time.
